EP 26: Marcello Leone — A Look Into The Growing Cannabis-Infused Beverage Market
Nine years ago, Marcello Leone often got walking pneumonia, and he was getting runner’s knee “every other day.” Around that time, he was introduced to a CPG drink with plant-based functional minerals.
He started noticing how it was benefiting him — and, within three months, he and his wife had acquired the company based in their native Canada. Not long after that, they developed the bottling facility. The opportunity to get in on the ground floor of cannabis-infused beverages, they reasoned, was one worth taking.
It’s certainly proved itself to be worthwhile. Since becoming founder and CEO of BevCanna Enterprises, Marcello can now say he owns and operates one of the highest-capacity cannabis beverage and processing and manufacturing facilities in the hemisphere, if not the world. Their facility has evolved into a 42,000-square foot, state-of-the-art bottling facility, and they produce over 210 million bottles of cannabis-infused drinks per year. Recently, BevCanna was also chosen as the executive manufacturing and distribution partner for Keef Brands in the U.S. — meaning they’ll soon be launching their products stateside.
The infused beverage market for cannabis drinks is growing. Currently, at about $89 million, it’s projected to hit $1.4 billion by 2023.
